Masthead:
The title or the masthead of this magazine i called 'XXL' in which is the logo for the magazine which is initially is for the audience to know what the magazine. This is evident from the fact that that it's in a huge font and conventionally it is situated on the top of the magazine. It is shown to be an identity for the magazine therefore people can remember the name of the magazine. The other common conventions it follows are the vibrancy and boldness so that it can stand out.
Cover lines:
Cover lines are ways of advertising the content of the magazine in such brief detail as they don't want give away the the stories, interviews etc. leaving the readers to read into the magazine, but also it is to give an insight for what the magazine has to over to the reader. XXL is a rap/ Hip-Hop therefore this is targeted at that area. Other examples for promoting the main artist on the cover and also other artists.
Headline:
In this magazine, the headlines are indicated with the large writing used on the left-hand side of the magazine. "Lupe Fiasco" is written in large font indicating the main topic for this main topic or in this case headlining. Adding onto this, it is written in the same colour as the logo to imply the importance of both the headline and logo.
Main photo:
The main aim for the main image is to present the main topic for the magazine or the main emphasis of the magazine in this case Lupe Fiasco. Moreover it is common that the artist photo is either mid-close up or just a close up so that he/she covers the whole page and therefore the audience are focused on the photo mostly than the writing.

Bar code is visible in the bottom left hand corner of the the magazine.
